Samila Sosic is a native of Bosnia and Herzegovina and moved to the United States in 1992. She holds an MFA in painting and drawing from the Academy of Art in San Francisco, a BA in Interdisciplinary Arts from UPB, and a BS in Architectural Engineering from the University of Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In addition to her Interim Director of Study Abroad and International Services position, she also serves as a professor of Art at UPB. Having lived abroad and traveled to multiple continents, Samila has acquired vast knowledge and experience that she incorporates in her teaching and student advising. As a Fine Artist, Samila has used her cultural immersions throughout her artistic career in both a private and academic setting. Her belief is that lifelong learning through traveling is the true way to enrich one's life. As the mother of three daughters who have traveled alongside her, Samila strongly believes in spreading study abroad opportunities, especially amongst young women.
