Carlow University


Lisa Sharfstein is the Assistant Director at Carlow University’s Center for Academic Achievement where she manages the Peer Tutoring program, tutors undergraduate and graduate students in writing, and teaches in the English Department. Her first abroad experience was spending an undergraduate semester studying at the University of Essex in Colchester, England. After obtaining a Master’s degree in education from Syracuse University, she served as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Central Asian country of Uzbekistan. There she taught conversational and written English to undergraduates and provided professional development sessions to secondary English teachers in educational methodology.

Lisa is passionate about the value of international experiences as well as the importance of fostering student learning, and is excited to combine these as Carlow’s campus coordinator for the Vira I. Heinz Program for Women in Global Leadership.
