Ashley Terdle studied in Costa Rica for two months taking 4 classes in a variety of material. She made close connections with all 4 of her professors and host family as well. In her free time, she sought to see as much of Costa Rica as possible in the short time, experiencing volcanoes, jungles, beaches, and the cities. She spoke Spanish whenever possible, eager to learn the language and mostly discussed how different the cultures were. She set a positive example for her younger sisters in the host family, taking them to the movies and the amusement park. Most importantly, Ashley opened her mind to understand the differences in culture, and also understood completely what it is like to be considered a foreigner.
