International Experience

Molly Knapp had the opportunity to study abroad in Tanzania for four weeks through the Pitt in Tanzania program. She did research in the physical therapy clinic of the Nyakahanga Hospital in the rural village of Karagwe, Tanzania. Here, Molly worked both in the institution-based and community-based rehabilitation centers, helping to implement physical therapy to a variety of persons with disability, throughout the community. She worked with patients with disabilities such as Hemiplegia, Paraplegia, and Cerebral Palsy. Besides working at the hospital, Molly got to further immerse herself in the Tanzanian culture by going on school visits, orphan visits, rotary club meetings, attending a wedding, and playing soccer with the local children. After studying at the hospital for four weeks, she had the opportunity to go on a safari. During safari she got to experience and see first-hand all of the beautiful and rich wildlife, scenery, and culture of the Serengeti, Ngorognoro Crater, Lake Manyara, and Zanzibar.
